Cocktail bar in centre of Palma near Pl Reina and Apuntadores. Placed in an old large town house. This area of Palma is very crowded with bars and restaurants. Abaco is the one that stands out. Smartly decorated without destroying the original atmosphere. A good chance to see what a large old town house looks like from the inside. Prices are high, but it is possible just to have a look. Located on Plaza Juan Carlos I in Palma de Mallorca. This is right in the centre of the city, where the shopping street Jaume III meets Borne. There are actually several bars on this corner, but they are very alike, one as good as the other. This is a good place to sit on the terrace and relax and watch life pass by. And so it does. Around midnight it gets quiet here, then you can move on to La Lonja. nearby.
Bar crystal is the meeting place for the local residents when they go for a drink in the area around Plaza España. It is also a good place to make an appointment with friends, because it is just across the railway station and easy to find. It is especially busy in the evenings and on Sunday afternoon. Just next to bar Crystal you find Bar 1916. Also one of the bars with a very long history in the Palma scene.
Restaurant Basmati is situated near Plaza España. What makes this place interesting is , apart from the great Indian food, the fact that they during the evening have a menu for 20 Euro (2005). It includes whine, and they do not leave your glass empty for long. Upstairs is a large room very suitable if you are a group. Then you have everything for your selves. Burladero is a typical Tapas Restaurant located in the centre of Palma de Mallorca. It is a well kept secret, and not overfilled with tourists. Apart from the main floor there is seating in the “cellar”, for larger groups. It is easy to find, if you are in the area of Jaime III / Borne. Opening hours are 10.30 – 16.30 and 19 – 01 C/.Concepcion, 3b Tel.: 971 713 459. There is a web page to look at. Language is Catalan only, but there are some good photos. Unfortunately no prices. In the centre of Palma de Mallorca, near plaza Weiler and Gran Hotel, you find this Galician Restaurant. Bar and tapas down stairs, and restaurant upstairs. This mean you can go there just for a beer, or a full meal, and basically everything in between. This restaurant was founded in 1966. It became famous for its sea and Galician Tappas, and still is. In Real Club Nautico you find a very good restaurant on the first floor. It is in the same building as the yacht club, but anybody are welcome. Paella with sea food, and the fish soap is recommended, it is very good. There is a terrace, so you can sit in door out as you please. There is a good view over the yacht harbour. It is not a very busy place normally. Now and again there are big banquets, it is a popular place to invite guests for celebrations. The prices are in the upper range. Café – Palma de Mallorca. Old town house converted to a café. A very popular place for it originality and restoration, it is probably the best example of a rebuilt townhouse, open to the public, in Palma today. There is a patio with a water fountain, and you can sit indoors as well. You are offered a wide choice of drinks and of course coffee . The food are light dishes. The prices are in the middle and upper middle range, but considering the fantastic surroundings, friendly and professional service, then you get good value for money here. Sa Premsa never disappoints. Here you find whatever your hart desires. Local dishes and international cuisine. The atmosphere is cosy. You sit at wooden tables, and along the wall there are old wine barrels. The staff are friendly and attend to you swiftly. Remember, it is fully accepted to share a starter between several people. (para picar it is called). This place is popular for lunch as well. At quarter past two it can be hard to find a table. It has happened that a dish was served to cold. In that case just ask to have it heated some more. The house wine is fine. There is underground parking on the square in front of the restaurant, but you are in dense city area, and the traffic is hectic during the day. Prices are in the lower medium range.
